This
movie came out in 2005, and I really loved it. Alex just gave me a copy on DVD
for my birthday, so I thought I'd review it for everyone.
The main plot is this: Brothers, folklore collectors, though primarily con artists, Jake and Will Grimm travel to small villages throughout Germany offering to rid the towns of ghosts, witches, Frenchman, and the lot. Eventually, though, they come across a real curse in a real haunted forest with real magical creatures. For this they need real courage.
I truly do love this movie. First because Terry Gilliam directed it and he is pure genius. The second is the sets. The movie is visually interesting; the forest is especially scary and creepy. Finally, the story is fun, with many many references to the fairy tales these two will soon write. Alex and I had a good time just pointing out what we recognized, and I'm sure we missed a few.
I'm sorry the movie had bad reviews when it came out. I don't care though. I think it's great.
Definitely see it!
