I had planned it just right. Claire and I
went to visit a friend and
left right at her naptime so she'd fall asleep in
the car and I could take a much needed nap when we got home. I put her
right to bed, but she was up a few minutes later playing one of her musical
books. So I squeezed her back in bed and added the book to the 25
other things she already had in bed with her including two life size stuffed
animals. I laid on the couch for a nap at last!
Not Quite! A few minutes later Claire was at
her door announcing that she had pooped. I changed her and put her back
to bed once more. By the time I got her to bed I must have made six
trips into her room. All was quite, so I laid down for my nap. I
slept . . . she apparently didn't.
I got up about an hour and a half later and heard
Claire playing so I went to get her thinking she had just gotten up. Boy
was I wrong!
I opened Claire's door to a little girl laughing
and pointing things out to me around her room. I heard "Yipes
mommy, Yipes" (meaning wipes) and "Claire's Clothes." She
had emptied an entire container of wipes onto her floor along with the
contents of her dresser. Not to mention all of the toys she had pulled
off the shelves and the sheet she stripped off the bed.
I said, "You didn't take a nap did you
Claire." Her response was, "No Mommy. . . Claire Play."
Well I guess so. I sure hope she had fun
because it wasn't all that fun to clean up with a belly all the way out to
wazoo.
