Weeping Night Sky
The Moon shines through the clouds as I lie in
bed,
Heavy raindrops falling from the sky.
She whispers to me, and I awake.
I stand at my window.
"What is it you say, moon?"
"Protect me from the weeps of the clouds,"
whispers the Moon.
She pulls me toward her, and I lie upon her
stomach.
"Keep me safe," she tells me.
I take the ragged blanket I have clutched in my
hand and drape it over her.
"Thank you, my child."
